Uber is teaming up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to encourage people to not drink and drive this Independence Day holiday.
Uber says 146 people were killed in drunken driving crashes over the Fourth of July holiday in 2015.
Here are tips from MADD’s volunteers and team members on how to be safe this summer with Uber:
• It Just Takes One Drink, So Plan Ahead – After just one drink, your ability to make the right decisions diminishes significantly. Even small amounts of alcohol can reduce your ability to drive safely. Have a plan to get home safely before your night starts.
• Get A Safe Ride With Uber Or Get A Designated Driver – Don’t take the chance. Leave the keys behind if you know you will be drinking.
• New To Uber? Create Your Account Before You Leave The House – Don’t wait to sign up for Uber before going out. Here’s how to download the app and sign up for your first trip. First time users can use code HITTHEROAD for $15 off their first ride.Besides Uber, drivers can also contact Lyft for rides .
