Grocery delivery service expands to Tuscaloosa

Shipt announced Tuesday that the company will begin offering delivery service to Tuscaloosa residents next Tuesday. All groceries will be purchased and delivered from Publix stores in the area.

Founded in 2014, Shipt operates in 11 states across the country. The company is also beginning service in Mobile, Gulf Shores and Montgomery next week, bringing the number of potential households served to more than 770,000 statewide, according to a release from the company.

Shoppers download and order groceries from a smart phone app, and chose an hour window for the shipment to be delivered. Prices are slightly marked up, with the company estimating that shoppers will pay around $40 for what would be a $35 order […]
