Uber’s Problem Isn’t Culture, It’s This

This is a problem–not because such events occurred, but because they occurred at the top.

Now Uber wants to fix these problems, and they want to do so by “fixing” its culture. They’ve brought in an external source to address the problem they all face (which is themselves).

Here’s the thing with culture. Culture is a composition of the attitudes, values, behaviors and beliefs of everybody and is the result of how all these “things” gel together to produce work. That’s why culture isn’t something you can directly change. What you can change, however, are the attitudes and actions that define that culture.
