Uber celebrated Pride Week in Portland on Saturday by bringing drag queens to perform for customers.
The ride sharing company featured a pride special between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. where app users could select the ‘pride’ option and a drag queen would be brought to there location to perform.
KATU rode along with Alexis Campbell Starr, a Portland-based professional female impersonator.
“I think Portland pride is really the community’s chance to come together as a whole and just celebrate being who we are,” said Alexis Campbell Starr.
Uber offered the option to users in Seattle last year. This is the first time the options been offered to people in Portland.
“We love pride and we love what it stands for. We really wanted to do something for the community that is out of the normal and that can just make people’s day,” said Eric Steensen, who works for Uber.Starr was born and raised in Portland.
