After agreeing a strategic cooperation with German child seat maker CYBEX and receiving thousands of free child seats, Didi Chuxing announced its new child-friendly initiative.

The child seats are designed for children between nine months and 12 years old.

Parents in eight Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou have been able to enjoy the service with no rise in price, but they need to order the service two hours in advance.

A survey conducted by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in 2015 showed that only 19.7 percent of Chinese families had used child seats for their children.

In China, only a few places including Shenzhen, Shanghai and Shandong Province have ruled that children under the age of four must be placed in child seats when they are in an automobile.“Via the cooperation with Didi Chuxing, we wish that Chinese parents can be more aware of child safety in vehicles and use child seats to protect them,” said Zhang Yun, general manager of CYBEX China.
